Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: party n., -ness suffix.
Etymology: < party n. + -ness suffix. In sense 1 after Russian partijnost′ (1895). Compare party-mindedness n. at party n. Compounds 5.The word is found earlier in a literal translation of the Russian in the following:1949 Soviet Stud. 1 45 ( (note) on ‘party spirit’) Partiinost: lit. ‘party-ness’, not in the sense of a political party. It is used, e.g. of the classical Russian novelists or of the pre-Socratic philosophers.
