Origin: A borrowing from Greek, combined with an English element. Etymons: Greek παλμός , -scopy comb. form.
Etymology: < ancient Greek παλμός pulsation (see palmella n.) + -scopy comb. form.R. G. Mayne (see quot. 1857) gives a Latin form palmoscopia. N.E.D. (1904) gives the pronunciation as (pælmǫ·skŏpi) /pælˈmɒskəpɪ/.
Medicine. Obsolete. rare.
Observation of the heartbeat or pulse.
