Origin: A borrowing from Samoan. Etymons: Samoan pālagi, papālagi.
Etymology: < Samoan pālagi European, white person (the same form occurs also in Tongan, Tuvaluan, and other Western Polynesian languages), variant of papālagi papalagi n. Compare earlier papalagi n.Quot. 1992 at sense A. reflects a folk-etymological reanalysis.
