Etymology: Cognate with or formed similarly to Old High German ubargangan , Old Swedish ivirganga , Gothic ufargaggan < the Germanic base of over- prefix + the Germanic base of gang v.1 Compare overgo v., to go over (see go v.).
Now Scottish.
