1874 Amer. Cycl. VI. 72 The contrivances employed by sugar refiners are called osmogenes, and they are now much used in Germany and France.

1883 R. Haldane Workshop Receipts 2nd Ser. 315/1 Submitting the liquid..to the process of osmosis in an apparatus known as the ‘osmogene’.
