ournv.

Origin: Probably a borrowing from early Scandinavian.
Etymology: Probably the reflex of a borrowing < early Scandinavian (compare Old Icelandic orna to get warm, Old Swedish orna , urna (Swedish regional orna to be damaged by heat, become musty (especially of flour or other grain)), Danish regional orne to become infested with maggots), of uncertain origin: perhaps related to the Germanic base of warm adj., although the exact relationship is difficult to explain phonologically. N.E.D. (1903) gives the pronunciation as (ɑuəɹn) /aʊən/.
Obsolete. rare.
