Origin: Of uncertain origin. Perhaps (i) formed within English, by clipping or shortening. Or perhaps (ii) an imitative or expressive formation. Etymon: upsadaisy int.
Etymology: Perhaps shortened < upsadaisy int. (compare whoops int. and quot. 1925 at that entry), or perhaps a natural exclamation which has become confused with upsadaisy int.
