Rent paid by a previous tenant of a farm to a new tenant for crops harvested after the new tenant comes into possession of the property, but before he or she gains occupancy.This rent is usually paid in the form of a share of the grain crop already sown by the previous tenant; cf. quots. 1922 and 1928.
