Etymology: < scientific Latin Lambeosaurus, genus name (W. A. Parks in the source cited at quot. 1923) < the name of Lawrence M. Lambe (1863–1919), Canadian palaeontologist, who first studied the remains + -o -o- connective + -saurus -saurus comb. form.

A genus of large duck-billed dinosaurs (hadrosaurs) from the late Cretaceous of North America, with a distinctive hollow crest on the head; (also lambeosaurus) a dinosaur of this genus.
