Etymology: < open adj. + bill n.2 Compare slightly later open-beak n.
Either of two snail-eating storks of the genus Anastomus, A. lamelligerus of Africa and A. oscitans of Asia, which have mandibles that only meet at the tips, leaving a wide gap in the middle of the closed bill. Also openbill stork.
