okadaic acid n. a toxic compound, C₄₄H₆₈O₁₃, which is a fatty acid derivative of a polycyclic polyether, occurs in some algae and protists (and in marine invertebrates that feed on them), and acts as an inhibitor of certain protein phosphatases.
