Of a pupa: in which the insect's appendages are firmly held against its body by a glue-like secretion and the body is usually covered by hardened cuticle; = obtect adj. Formerly (also): †covered by a neighbouring part, as the forewings of some bugs by the enlarged scutellum (obsolete).
