(a) (in Surveying, etc.) a wheel attached to a handle, which may be rolled along the ground by a person on foot; = perambulator n. 2; (b) (now usually) a device which measures and displays the distance travelled by a vehicle, by means of a device attached to a wheel or bearing (cf. mileometer n.).
