Etymology: < Italian †nunciatura (1602), nunziatura (1614–17) < nunzio nuncio n. + -atura -ature suffix. Compare French nonciature (1623), Portuguese nunciatura (1679), Spanish nunciatura (1692). N.E.D. (1907) gives the pronunciation as (nɒ·nʃiătiūəɹ) /ˈnʌnʃ(ɪ)ətjʊə(r)/.
