Etymology: < north adv. + -most suffix. Compare southmost adj., eastmost adj., westmost adj.Perhaps independently re-formed in Older Scots and early modern English.
Now chiefly U.S. and Scottish.
Most northerly. Cf. northermost adj., northernmost adj.Apparently unattested between the Old English period and the 16th cent.
