Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French noctambule.
Etymology: < French noctambule (1701; also 1736 as adjective) < post-classical Latin noctambulus sleepwalker (see noctambulous adj.). Compare earlier noctambulo n., noct-ambler n., noctambulant n., and slightly earlier noctambulist n.
= noctambulist n.
