1857 J. Goodsir in Edinb. New Philos. Jrnl. 5 121 I employ, as morphological designations, the term Neuropod..for an Annulose, and Hæmapod..for a Vertebrate animal.
1870 G. Rolleston Forms Animal Life 168 Vertebrata may be spoken of as ‘Hæmapods’, in contradistinction to Invertebrata which are ‘Neuropods’.
