Etymology: < neuro- comb. form + axial adj., after neuraxis n.A hyphenated form neuro-axial, with the different sense ‘neural and axial’, occurs slightly earlier in an apparently isolated use:1879 Proc. Royal Soc. 1878–9 28 336 I consider the trabeculæ to be axial, or rather neuro-axial.
