Etymology: < classical Latin nauseāt-, past participial stem of nauseāre (see nauseate v.) + -ive suffix, after nausea n. Compare post-classical Latin nauseātīvus that induces nausea (a1350 in a British source), Middle French, French †nauséatif that causes nausea (late 15th cent.). Compare slightly later nauseate v.
Obsolete.
Inclined to nausea.
