Origin: Formed within English, by derivation; modelled on an Italian lexical item. Etymons: musket n.2, -ry suffix.
Etymology: < musket n.2 + -ry suffix, after Italian moschetteria (1611 in Florio: see quot. 1611 at sense 1). Compare French mousqueterie (1628–30 in form musqueterie in sense 3, 1660 in sense 1, 1690 in sense 4).
Now chiefly historical.
