Etymology: < scientific Latin Mysticeti (valid publication E. D. Cope 1891; compare Cope's earlier use in quot. 1890), plural of mysticetus (see mysticete n.¹). Compare mystacocete n., Mysticete n.²

Zoology.

The suborder of cetaceans comprising the baleen or whalebone whales; (with plural agreement) whales of this suborder collectively.
