Etymology: < Yiddish nakhes < Hebrew naḥaṯ contentment.
Esp. in Jewish usage: a sense of pleasure or pride, esp. at the achievements of one's children. Also: a source of such pride. to shep naches [ < Yiddish shepn nakhes < shepn to draw, derive + nakhes naches n.] : to gain pride, pleasure, or satisfaction.
