Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: multi- comb. form, Latin versant-, versāns, versāre.
Etymology: < multi- comb. form + classical Latin versant-, versāns, present participle of versāre to turn, to change (see verse v.2). Compare -ant suffix1. Compare also versant adj.Apparently recoined in quot. 1968.
Changing, varying, metamorphic; (Ecology) exhibiting minor variations related to environmental conditions.

1976 Ecol. Monogr. 46 101/1 C. rutilus seems to be a multiversant species in that it can deal with a wide spectrum of conditions.
