Etymology: < post-classical Latin moralis (late 13th cent. in the passage translated in quot. a1400) < classical Latin mōrum a mulberry (see more n.4) + -ālis -al suffix1. Compare Middle French moral (of haemorrhoids) resembling a mulberry (late 16th cent.).
Medicine. Obsolete.
A mulberry-shaped haemorrhoid. Usually in plural. Cf. more n.4
