Etymology: < the name of Charles François Antoine Morren (1807–58), Belgian naturalist + -ian suffix. N.E.D. (1908) gives the pronunciation as (mǫrī·niăn) /mɒˈriːnɪən/.
Zoology. Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
Designating the calciferous glands in the oesophageal wall of an earthworm, which were originally thought to be involved in digestion but are now thought to be involved in calcium excretion.
