Origin: A borrowing from Hawaiian. Etymon: Hawaiian ʽōʽō.
Etymology: < Hawaiian ʽōʽō (see oo n.2), apparently by confusion with moho Hawaiian rail (see moho n.2).
Originally: = oo n.2 Later also (in form Moho): the genus of Hawaiian honeyeaters (family Meliphagidae) to which the o-os belong.

Origin: Formed within English, by clipping or shortening. Etymon: Mohorovičić discontinuity n.
Etymology: Shortened < Mohorovičić discontinuity n.
Geology.
The discontinuity between the earth's crust and the mantle which is believed to exist at a depth of about 10–12 km (6–7½ miles) under the ocean beds and 40–50 km (25–30 miles) under the continents. Also called Mohorovičić discontinuity.
