1. A surface which possesses a conical point of the highest possible order (i.e. n − 1, where n is the order of the equation defining the surface). Now rare.

Origin: A borrowing from Greek. Etymon: Greek μονοειδής.
Etymology: < ancient Greek μονοειδής of one kind, uniform < μονο- mono- comb. form + εἶδος form (see -oid suffix). Compare earlier monometer n. N.E.D. (1907) gives the pronunciation as (mǫ·noid) /ˈmɒnɔɪd/.
Prosody. Obsolete. rare.
Using only one type of metrical foot.
