Origin: A borrowing from Swedish. Etymon: Swedish monimolit.

Etymology: < Swedish monimolit (L. J. Igelström 1865, in Öfversigt af K. Vetenskaps-Akad. Förhandl. 22 227) < ancient Greek μόνιμος stable, unchanging ( < an ablaut variant of the base of μένειν (see remain v.) + -ιμος , suffix forming adjectives) + Swedish -lit -lite comb. form¹, so called because the mineral is decomposed with great difficulty.

Mineralogy.

A cubic antimonate of lead, iron, and calcium, occurring as yellowish, greyish green, or brownish crystals that are usually octahedral.
