Origin: Ether (i) a borrowing from French. Or (ii) a variant or alteration of another lexical item. Etymons: French monorchide ; monorchis n.
Etymology: Either < French monorchide, adjective (1786 or earlier), or independently < monorchis n. with remodelling of the ending (see discussion s.v. monorchis n.).
