Etymology: < mixed adj.2 + the plural of tithe n.2, after post-classical Latin decimae mixtae (1416; 1559 in a British source).
Now historical.
With plural agreement: tithes which are partly personal and partly predial in nature (see quot. 1530). Also in singular.The commutation of tithes for money payments was regularized by the Tithes Commutation Acts of 1836–60.
