释义

mirificentadj.

Origin: Probably formed within English, by derivation. Or perhaps a borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: mirific adj., Latin mīrificus , -ent suffix.
Etymology: Probably < mirific adj. (or its etymon classical Latin mīrificus) + -ent suffix, after e.g. magnificent adj. (not attested in comparative or superlative in classical Latin except in Terence in early form mīrificissimus ). Compare later mirificence n. Compare also earlier mirifical adj.
