Origin: Formed within English, by derivation; modelled on a Latin lexical item. Etymons: misplace v., -er suffix1.
Etymology: < misplace v. + -er suffix1, after classical Latin cacosyntheton ( < Hellenistic Greek κακοσύνθετον , use as noun of κακοσύνθετος ill-composed < ancient Greek κακο- caco- comb. form + συνθετός composed: see synthetic adj.).
Obsolete. rare.
A rhetorical figure in which established rules of composition are deliberately broken for a particular effect, esp. by alteration of the normal order of words in a phrase or sentence.
