Origin: Formed within English, by derivation; probably modelled on a French lexical item. Etymons: miniard n., -ize suffix; miniard adj., -ize suffix.
Etymology: Partly < miniard n. + -ize suffix, and partly < miniard adj. + -ize suffix, probably after Middle French, French mignardiser to make graceful (1566), to pamper (Cotgrave 1611).
Obsolete.
transitive. To make (language) affected in character; to pamper (a person), to treat with excessive delicacy or tenderness. Also with it.
