Origin: Of multiple origins. Partly a borrowing from French. Partly a borrowing from Latin. Etymons: French minerie; Latin mineria, minaria.
Etymology: < Middle French, French minerie (c1380) and its etymon post-classical Latin mineria, variant of minaria (see minera n.); compare -ery suffix.
Now chiefly English regional (south-western).
