Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French Mercurey.
Etymology: < French Mercurey (1874) < Mercurey, the name of a village in the department of Saône-et-Loire, in the Burgundy region of France, where the wine is made.
A red wine produced from Pinot Noir grapes in the Chalonnais district of Burgundy, France.A small quantity of white wine is also produced under the same appellation.
