An aquatic plant with broad leaves and yellow flowers, perhaps the yellow water lily, Nuphar lutea, or the marsh marigold, Caltha palustris.T. Hunt in Plant Names Medieval Eng. (1989) suggests Ranunculus ficaria, the lesser celandine.
