A radio beacon used by the Royal Air Force in the Second World War (1939–45) to intercept and redirect enemy navigational signals.

1999 Western Morning News (Electronic ed.) 5 Jan. I believe the incident occurred at 22.40 hours on November 24 1940... The crew was trying to establish its position, having become victims of ‘Meacon’, a device in use at that time for jamming enemy beacons.
1999 Evening Post (Bristol) (Electronic ed.) 16 Nov. The Germans introduced X-Verfahren directional beams from France. These were countered by masking beacons—meacons—which received the enemy signal at one station and retransmitted it from another several miles away, confusing German navigators.
