Bot. 400 Meiostemonous would be said of a plant the stamens of which are fewer in number than the petals. 1849 J. H. Balfour Man. Bot. §392 The stamens may neither be equal to, nor a multiple of, the floral envelopes, and they may even be less numerous, so that the flower is miostemonous.
