Etymology: < Middle French marinal marine (late 12th cent. in Old French) < Old French marin , marine marine n. + -al -al suffix1. Compare post-classical Latin marinalis (apparently only in lex marinalis, in a British source).With marinal judgement (see quot. 1620 at sense 2), compare Middle French jugement marinal in A. le Macon's translation of the Decameron (1545); the Italian text has estimazion marinaresca.
Obsolete.
