Etymology: < Sanskrit manvantara the period of a Manu < manv- , combining form of manu Manu n. + antara interval (cognate with interior adj. and n.).
In Hindu cosmology: each of the fourteen periods or eras, each presided over by a special Manu, which make up a kalpa (kalpa n.).
