Etymology: < Augsburg (German Augsburg), the name of the city in southern Germany where the document was presented to the Emperor.In Augsburg Confession after post-classical Latin Confessio Augustana (see Augustan adj.1) and German Augsburgische Konfession (1548 or earlier; now more usually Augsburger Konfession or Augsburger Bekenntnis ).
