Origin: Either (i) a borrowing from Latin. Or (ii) a borrowing from Greek. Etymons: Latin autoschediasticus; Greek αὐτοσχεδιαστικός.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin autoschediasticus (1653 or earlier) or its etymon ancient Greek αὐτοσχεδιαστικός extemporary < αὐτοσχεδιαστός extemporary ( < αὐτοσχεδιάζειν autoschediaze v. + -τός , suffix forming verbal adjectives) + -ικός -ic suffix. Compare autoschediastical adj.
