1857 N. Hawthorne Jrnl. 9 July in Eng. Notebks. (1997) II. vi. 325 St. Giles's Cathedral..having been kirkified into three interior divisions by the Covenanters.
1874 Athenæum 29 Aug. 271/2 They ‘kirkified’ the abbeys and cathedrals, and drove out the Regulars literally with fire and sword.
