An individual savings account, a personal savings account which allows the saver to make various types of investment, on which tax relief is available on the interest, and proceeds are not subject to capital gains tax, provided certain conditions are met.ISAs were launched in the U.K. on 6 April 1999, replacing both personal equity plans (PEPs) and tax-exempt special savings accounts (TESSAs).
