Etymology: < i(so)pro(pyl (s.v. iso- comb. form 2) + -niazid (in isoniazid n.) (iproniazid being the isopropyl derivative of isoniazid).
Pharmacology.
A derivative of isoniazid which was used for a time (usually as the phosphate, a white crystalline powder) in the treatment of tuberculosis and as an antidepressant; 1-isonicotinyl-2-isopropyl hydrazine, (CH3)2CH·NH·NH·CO·C5H4N.
