Also: facing, pointing, or curving inwards; spec. designating a cross moline in which the forked points at the ends of the arms curve back towards the centre of the cross (= sarcelly adj. 1). Cf. inverted adj. 2.An eagle invertant is displayed with its back turned towards the viewer (= recursant adj.), while wings are said to be invertant when they are depicted with their tips pointing downwards.In later use chiefly in dictionaries and glossaries.
