Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin internuntiāt-, internuntiāre, internunciare.
Etymology: < classical Latin internuntiāt-, past participial stem (see -ate suffix3) of internuntiāre (in post-classical Latin also internunciare (14th cent.)) to send messengers to and fro between < internuntius internuntius n. Compare slightly later internunciation n.
Obsolete. rare.
intransitive. To carry a message between two parties. Also transitive: to deliver (a message).
