Etymology: < a- prefix1 + sench v. Compare Old Frisian ursanka to submerge. Compare asink v.In Old English a weak Class I verb (asencan ), which formally looks like a regularly formed causative to strong asincan asink v., but both verbs are rare and may have been formed independently.
Obsolete.
transitive. To submerge; to sink (a ship), to drown (a person), to inundate (land); to cause to sink into. Cf. sench v.
