Etymology: < Latin incuss-, participial stem of incutĕre to strike into, strike upon, incute v. < in- (in- prefix3) + quatĕre to shake, strike, dash. Compare concuss v., discuss v.

transitive. To strike in, impress; to strike (terror, etc.) into the mind; to inspire a person with (some feeling).
