Etymology: < im- prefix2 + miscible adj. and n. Compare French immiscible (Littré, who cites a Latin immiscibilis from Quicherat).
That cannot be mixed; incapable of mixture. Usually spec. of a liquid: incapable of forming a true solution with or in another liquid.
